Adding Uninsured Motorist To Your Auto Insurance

Nevada Insurance Enrollment Answers Do I Need Uninsured Motorist Coverage?

LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- It's estimated that 1 in 5 Nevada drivers are uninsured, and a huge percentage carry insufficient coverage. If you are hit by an uninsured or underinsured motorist, you may not be able to count on their insurance company to pick up the hospital bill. A car accident may not only damage your vehicle, but it can also leave you with hefty medical expenses and lost wages. Whether or not you're responsible for the accident, those financial burdens may fall on you. Uninsured motorist provides you with a way to recover after a car accident without the worry of financial hardship.

Medical Payments, also called "med pay" is different than Uninsured Motorist. Med pay covers medical expenses caused by auto accidents in your vehicle, or pedestrians you may hurt, or if you are a passenger in someone else's car.

What Is Covered by Personal Injury Protection?  This is not a required coverage option offered in Nevada

Uninsured Motorist in Nevada, however, covers bodily injuries that you or your passengers may incur as the result of a car accident. This coverage pays out benefits if the "at fault" driver that hit you leaves you unable to go back to work – you have lost wages, and/or experience pain and suffering, and have medical bills that the "at fault" driver's liability coverage on their policy is short in covering. If you are hit by an uninsured or underinsured motorist, it can help take care of any medical expenses that may arise up to your policy limits.
