JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 10, 2025 ~ Stellar, a Jacksonville-based fully integrated firm specializing in design, engineering, construction, and mechanical services, has been recognized for its exceptional achievements in construction safety. The company received the National Safety Pinnacle Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) at the 35th annual Excellence in Construction® Awards during ABC Convention 2025 in Las Vegas on February 26.
This is the fifth consecutive year that Stellar has received this prestigious award, which is the highest category given to contractor members by ABC. Out of the 52 contractors nationwide who were honored with this award, only 12 were general contractors, including Stellar.
Neil Ross, Vice President of Safety at Stellar, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the company's commitment to prioritizing safety in all aspects of their operations. The winners of the 2024 National Safety Excellence Award were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Diamond, Platinum or Gold status in ABC's STEP Safety Management System® in 2024. This reflects their outstanding safety performance data from 2023. During the selection process, contractors were evaluated based on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable incident rates, leading indicator use, process and program innovations and interviews conducted by members of ABC's National Health and Safety Committee.
David Pugh, partner at Bradley and Chair of the ABC National Board of Directors for 2025 praised Stellar for their commitment to jobsite safety. "Stellar exhibits an unrelenting commitment to jobsite safety, and that should be celebrated and honored," said Pugh. "The leadership and employees at Stellar make a choice every day to create a culture that refuses to compromise on safety."
The National Safety Excellence Awards are presented in three major North American Industry Classification System code categories: NAICS 236—Construction of Buildings; NAICS 237—Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction; and NAICS 238—Specialty Trade Contractors.

STEP (Safety Training Evaluation Process) is a no-cost framework provided by ABC for contractors and suppliers to measure safety data and benchmark with peers in the industry. This enables top-performing ABC members to achieve incident rates that are 576% safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics construction industry average. The self-assessment tool helps participants identify opportunities for growth in their safety programs to lower their total recordable incident rates.
