SOMERVILLE, Mass., March 14, 2025 ~ Adept Materials, a startup specializing in advanced materials, is gearing up to release its first consumer product. The company has developed a premium interior paint and primer system that incorporates their proprietary moisture control technology. Unlike traditional interior coatings that are purely decorative, Adept's paint and primer actively regulate moisture and humidity within the home.
The team at Adept Materials has been diligently testing their product's performance in their R&D facilities at Greentown Labs, as well as through third-party evaluations. They are currently preparing pilot projects to showcase the benefits of their moisture control technology in real homes.
In addition to their research and development efforts, Adept Materials has also been working with Red Antler, a leading branding agency, to develop the consumer brand for their moisture control paint. The brand will be known as "Lilypad."

Recently, Adept Materials gave a sneak peek of the Lilypad brand at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas. The product was featured in the Start-Up Zone and received positive feedback from attendees. Adept is planning to make appearances at several upcoming events including ChangeNOW in Paris, Climate Tech on the Plaza in Boston, BuiltWorlds' Innovating Building Materials & Supply Chain Conference in Chicago, and the Innovative Housing Showcase in Washington D.C.
Consumers can expect to see Lilypad paint on the market later this year through direct-to-consumer sales. To stay updated on the product launch, interested individuals can sign up for updates on the Lilypad website.
Adept Materials recently closed a successful seed round of funding totaling $4.6 million. The round was oversubscribed and led by two of North America's largest homebuilders, D.R. Horton and PulteGroup. It was also joined by Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), an economic development agency run by the state, Point Cove LLC, an investment firm, as well as Anorak Ventures and other early-stage technology investors.
With the support of these investors and the promising potential of their moisture control paint, Adept Materials is poised for success in the consumer market.
