NEW YORK, March 3, 2025 ~ Elsevier, a leading global provider of health information and data analytics, has recently announced significant improvements to their clinical decision support solution, ClinicalKey AI. This advanced AI-powered tool is designed to enhance patient care and efficiency by providing actionable insights directly within the clinician's workflow.

Recognizing the importance of seamless workflows for healthcare providers, Elsevier has launched new integrations with strategic partners in the electronic health record (EHR) and health information technology (HIT) spaces. These integrations aim to simplify access to relevant information for busy clinicians, allowing them to focus more on patient care and reduce time-consuming administrative tasks.

One of the new integrations is with Epic, a widely used EHR system. Through this integration, clinicians can seamlessly switch between Epic's EHR and ClinicalKey AI without having to navigate away from patient records. ClinicalKey AI can now be found in Connection Hub on Epic Showroom, providing a cohesive experience for clinicians and simplifying the process of accessing essential information at the point of care.

In addition to the EHR integration, Elsevier has also launched a new mobile app for Apple and Android users. This app will further enhance access to critical information on-the-go for clinicians.

Dr. Barry Wendt, Chief Medical Information Officer at St. Elizabeth Healthcare and a development partner on the Epic EHR integration, expressed his excitement about this new feature: "Clinicians are working under increasing pressure, treating multiple patients with complex cases, and simplifying access to vital information is paramount. With ClinicalKey AI's seamless integration with the Epic EHR system, clinicians can easily move between the patient's EHR and the latest evidence-based content, helping them save valuable time when they're treating patients at the point of care."

Elsevier has also collaborated with DrFirst, a company that provides solutions used by over 450,000 prescribers. Through this partnership, ClinicalKey AI decision support will now be available on DrFirst's iPrescribe HIT platform. This will allow healthcare providers of all practice sizes and specialties to access AI-powered conversational searches of clinical literature, helping them make informed prescribing decisions from anywhere.

Moreover, ClinicalKey AI will now also support the earning, tracking, and claiming of Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits directly within the platform. This feature will seamlessly integrate learning into clinicians' daily workflow, allowing them to earn CME credits through each clinical query and response interaction.

Furthermore, ClinicalKey AI will be the first AI solution of its kind to support auto-submission of MOC credits to American Boards of eight different specialties. This feature will make it easier for healthcare professionals to maintain their certifications while using this advanced tool.

Omry Bigger, President of Clinical Solutions at Elsevier, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting healthcare professionals in their daily work: "Healthcare professionals continue to face growing pressures on their time while operating in a fast-moving work environment. Since launching ClinicalKey AI in 2024 as the first Gen-AI solution of its kind, we have continued to expand functionality to support clinicians by streamlining processes, improving access and boosting CME, helping them respond to the challenges they face every day."

ClinicalKey AI is currently available in over 50 countries and provides answers from a curated content set specifically designed for point-of-care questions. It includes titles from Elsevier such as The Lancet and Goldman-Cecil, as well as non-Elsevier titles and other evidence-based sources. This recent announcement builds on Elsevier's expanded partnership with the American College of Cardiology (ACC), which made the ACC's Clinical Practice Guidelines and Expert Consensus Decision Pathways on various cardiology topics available on ClinicalKey AI earlier this year.

To learn more about ClinicalKey AI, interested individuals can visit Elsevier's website or attend the upcoming 2025 HIMSS Conference in Las Vegas. The Elsevier team will be available at booth 3616 and AI Pavilion Kiosk 121-14 to provide more information about ClinicalKey AI.
