SAVANNAH, Ga. - nvtip -- Understanding that literacy is not just a fundamental aspect of learning, but also a key driver of economic development, the Georgia Council on Literacy is set to unveil the Georgia Reads Campaign at the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Annual Convention in Savannah, Georgia, June 24, 2024.The Georgia Reads Campaign is launching to raise awareness about the need to improve reading skills in all age groups, encourage activities to increase literacy rates and recognize community partnerships that are actively contributing to a more literate Georgia.
GMA and its nonprofit, Georgia City Solutions, Malcolm Mitchell, and the Share the Magic Foundation are partners in the initiative.
The official announcement will feature an inspiring message from Malcolm Mitchell, who will be leading the Georgia Reads Campaign as its Coach. Mitchell is a Super Bowl champion, author, speaker, visionary of the youth literacy initiative "Read with Malcolm" and Founder and CEO of the Share the Magic Foundation. Additionally, Mitchell will facilitate a discussion on literacy with a panel of distinguished leaders.
