DALLAS - nvtip -- On Saturday, March 25th, Mercy Street Sports will celebrate the opening of the spring 2023 baseball season for Dallas area youth at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy at the Mercy Street Sports Complex, presented by Toyota. Additionally, the organization will kick off spring soccer at the Mercy Street Sports Complex. The day will be highlighted by opening ceremonies for both sports at twelve noon as the Dallas Fire-Rescue Fire Chief, Dominique Artis, throws the first pitch in baseball and Dallas Chief of Police, Eddie Garcia, kicks the first goal in soccer. Mercy Street Sports is proud to host the largest opening day of the Spring season with over 200 kids ready to play baseball and over 600 kids poised to play soccer. This celebration comes at the perfect time, as the organization kicks off the recognition of the twentieth year of service to the Dallas area.
"One thing we've witnessed over the past two decades we've served the West Dallas area is that sports, particularly youth sports, has the ability to bring together a community unlike anything else," said Carlton Oby, President and CEO of Mercy Street. "What sets Mercy Street Sports apart is while we introduce young athletes to the fundamentals of sports, we simultaneously introduce them to the fundamentals of the Christian faith. I'm proud of the methods we've developed to build up healthy kids and healthy families. Mercy Street is truly a movement of God's people working together for His glory and the good of our city."
