LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- Nevada Women In Trades, a non-profit organization that prepares women for successful careers in high skilled blue collar trade occupations is hosting its 4th Annual National Alliance Summit on Friday, Sept 20 from 10 am – 1 pm. Sponsored by the Native American Alliance and MGM Resorts, the event will be held at College of Southern Nevada Cheyenne Campus, June Whitley Student Lounge, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave Las Vegas, 89030.
"Five years ago, a good friend of mine, and business mentor the late Dumas Martin Jr. encouraged me to create a Summit that would promote the mission of Nevada Women In Trades," said Evelyn Pacheco, the organization's Founder. "I was hesitant at first, but he convinced me to give it a try. We reached out to the Native Women's Alliance College of Southern Nevada and MGM Resorts International for help with putting the event on and they agreed to be our main event sponsors. "

"Our inaugural event was very successful, and Dr. Sondra Cosgrove, another good friend of mine Preston Young who runs a non-profit in California called "Peace in the Streets" encouraged me to host it again the next year. This year we are hosting our fourth event. It is exciting to be a part of the growth of this summit. We are empowering women to seek high-paying, non-traditional careers that can change their futures."
The purpose of the National Alliance Summit is to provide visibility, advocacy and empowerment for women of color in non-traditional careers. Attendees will receive valuable information about the opportunities that are available in trade union apprenticeship programs. A series of speakers will share their stories of overcoming challenges to achieve their goals.
"Women who attend this event can expect to find unity, support and knowledge that can literally change their lives," Pacheco said. "They will become a part of our movement. The current environment of focus on female leadership is the perfect setting for this summit."
