Understanding the enrollment process and taking note of the enrollment period is more important than ever for ensuring that you and your family have health insurance coverage next year.

The Health Insurance Enrollment Process

During the enrollment process, you'll provide some basic information about how many people live in your house, your household income and where you live. This will allow you to see what levels of health insurance you and your dependents qualify for, what health insurance will cost you or even if you qualify for free health insurance coverage through Medicaid. Even if you don't qualify for Medicaid, you may still qualify for a government subsidy that will minimize how much your health insurance costs. If you DO NOT want a government subsidy, you can buy an ACA (qualified health plan covering pre-existing conditions) health plan that is not tied to Nevada Health Link. If you'll be purchasing health insurance coverage through the Marketplace for 2020, then you'll want to pay attention to these important dates. Nevada residents will no longer be able to enroll in health insurance outside of the open enrollment period, and neglecting to sign up for coverage could affect whether or not you have health insurance in 2020.

• November 1, 2019 to December 15, 2019: This is the open enrollment period for Nevada residents. During this time, you need to enroll in a qualified health plan (a health insurance plan that is certified by Nevada Health Link and provides essential health benefits and follows established cost-sharing limits).
