LOS ANGELES - nvtip -- Lawyers are receiving a high number of calls from victims of speeding car accidents despite the drop in reported collisions, injuries, and fatalities related to California's "Shelter in Place" order.
Los Angeles Car Accident Attorneys, JT Legal Group, has advised over 1000 new queries by individuals involved in traffic collisions since California enforced the order in March, answering an average of 5 inquiries a day.
The Los Angeles based personal injury law firm cited speeding as one of the leading causes of these car accident injuries, with a higher rate of serious afflictions than the pre-Covid-19 era.
According to a Road Ecology Center report, traffic congestion has fallen as a result of California's effort to stop the spread of Covid-19. Empty streets and fewer cars on the road have cut traffic accidents, as well as crash-related injuries and deaths, but led to an increase in speeding.

The California Highway Patrol reported an 87% increase in citations for speeding over 100 mph as motorists take advantage of clear highways. Higher speeds can cause far more serious injuries and while increased traffic forced more accidents, it slowed down vehicles, leading to further minor incidents.
Michael Avanesian, Senior Partner at JT Legal Group, said, "One of the biggest mistakes you can make as a driver, pedestrian, or cyclist is to take your eyes off the ball. The highways are empty but that is no excuse for reckless driving.
"We've noticed a sharp rise in accidents caused by speeding despite the drop in overall collisions, injuries, and deaths.
"Our advice for drivers is to follow the California Highway Patrol's instructions and 'slow down'. When you collide with another vehicle or person at speed, you risk both your own and the victim's life. Be on the lookout for drivers ignoring the speed limit and stay safe."
