LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- Last month Christina Aldan co-presented a talk to NV Energy virtually in Las Vegas, Nevada. Christina represented her work serving on the board of directors for the Avery Burton Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on mental health awareness. She is an international public speaker and brand strategy consultant for Arana Software. The event took place in August, 2021 using Microsoft Teams video conferencing. Christina shared her story on why mental health is important and why providing culturally-competent resources for mental health is key to cultivating resiliency. This was an internal corporate event for NV Energy employees. Participants walked away with tips for cultivating more emotional intelligence in their lives and ways to improve resilience. Also speaking during the event will be Reggie Burton, founder of the Avery Burton Foundation and RB Group. Mr. Burton reviewed tips for an action plan for someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis. Both Ms. Aldan and Mr. Burton are certified in Mental Health First Aid. The Avery Burton Foundation has been established to serve as an educational development and community development public charity.  The idea of this organization has been initiated from a challenge faced in many communities of having loved ones who may be silently suffering with issues that are too great for them to handle on their own which in some cases can lead to unfortunate outcomes.  This organization has been created to serve individuals in need, families of loved ones who may be having personal challenges, caretakers who are in the healing process with loved ones who are trying to seek out assistance and those who may be left behind in the aftermath of a tragic decision made by their loved ones.
