BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 4, 2025 ~ Glenn Derry, an Academy Award winning technologist with over 30 years of experience in the entertainment technology industry, has joined Sphere Entertainment Co. (NYSE: SPHR) as the Executive Vice President of MSG Ventures. This announcement was made by the company today.
In his new role, Mr. Derry will be responsible for overseeing various technology initiatives across MSG Ventures, a subsidiary of Sphere Entertainment that focuses on developing advanced technologies for live entertainment. He will also support Sphere Studios, the immersive content studio dedicated to creating multi-sensory experiences exclusively for Sphere, and the overall Sphere platform including future venues. Mr. Derry will work closely with all departments within the organization to implement new and existing technologies that enhance Sphere's live entertainment and experiential content.
Sphere Entertainment has been at the forefront of redefining immersive experiences since its first venue opened in Las Vegas in September 2023. With Mr. Derry's extensive experience and expertise, he is expected to further elevate Sphere's position as a leader in this next generation entertainment medium.

Jim Dolan, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sphere Entertainment, expressed his excitement about having Mr. Derry join their team. With a career spanning various facets of the film and gaming industry, Mr. Derry is recognized as one of Hollywood's leading technological innovators. He is credited with introducing the concept of "virtual production" and has extensive experience in motion capture and emerging visual production technology.

Prior to joining Sphere Entertainment, Mr. Derry served as the President of Production Technology at AGBO, an Academy Award winning independent film, television, and gaming studio. During his time there, he played a key role in establishing innovative virtual production and animation pipelines for the company's intellectual property.
Before that, Mr. Derry was the Vice President of Visual Effects at 20th Century Fox Studios following the acquisition of Technoprops, an R&D firm specializing in motion capture and emerging visual production technology. He was also the founder and CEO of Technoprops, where he built the company into a force known for redefining creative and technical innovation in the film industry.
Some of Mr. Derry's notable achievements include developing a state-of-the-art head-mounted camera system widely used for capturing an actor's facial movements. This groundbreaking design earned him and his team an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Technical Achievement Award. Throughout his career at Technoprops, Mr. Derry worked on several technically ambitious projects such as Avatar, Star Wars: Rogue One, Avengers – Age of Ultron, Zero Dark Thirty, The Jungle Book, Minority Report, and Halo 4.
Mr. Derry began his career in the film industry creating practical effects before transitioning into visual effects and virtual production work.
