Nevada Insurance Enrollment Explains Purchasing Health Insurance During A Special Enrollment Period
LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- Enrolling in a health insurance plan can be a daunting task, and if you aren't aware of deadlines and "Open Enrollment" guidelines you may have missed your chance altogether. Before worrying too much, you may want to see if you could still be eligible for a special enrollment period. The special enrollment period is always within 60 days of a life event. A "Life Event" is an event such as the birth of a baby, losing group coverage through an employer, losing coverage due to a move to Nevada, marriage, any many other scenarios.
Missing Open Enrollment or finding yourself in need of health insurance outside of the Open Enrollment period does not always mean you have to be uninsured for the entire year. A health insurance agent can help guide you through the process of determining if you are still eligible to apply for health insurance in Nevada. If you're not, perhaps a short-term health insurance plan may get you by until the next open enrollment period which is yearly starting November 1st through December 15th. (End dates of Open Enrollment can change year to year, please call us for this year's end date).
