HENDERSON, Nev. - nvtip -- Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle John Jenkins has selected the Avery Burton Foundation (ABF) as his nonprofit to represent him in the NFL's national campaign, My Cause My Cleats.
Jenkins, No. 95, will be wearing his custom Nike Air Jordan cleats Dec. 16 at Allegiant Stadium during the Raiders game against the Falcons on Monday Night Football. His cleats will feature the ABF logo and quote: "I don't have weekdays in my calendar — only strong days." Also, written on the cleats will be the phrase: Depression Doesn't Discriminate.
"Everyone at the Avery Burton Foundation is honored to have our organization chosen by John Jenkins as his My Cause My Cleat nonprofit," ABF Founder Reggie Burton said. "I am personally very proud, as I know my son, Avery, would be, too. I can't wait to see them on the field during Monday Night Football."
Since 2016, the NFL has conducted My Cause, My Cleats, a league-wide initiative to raise awareness for nonprofits selected by players, coaches and staff. Players pick a cause that is important to them and represent their chosen organization on custom-designed cleats.

Avery Burton was a three-sport athlete at Foothill High School in Henderson and graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2017. He died from suicide two months after graduation following a major depressive episode. ABF was established to honor his memory and promote mental health awareness and education.
ABF offers scholarships to high school seniors, programs in Mental Health First Aid Training and focuses on destigmatizing the conversation around mental health through outreach and educational resources for students and families. This is done, in part, with impactful storytelling via the ABF Resiliency Project and by providing Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) tips.

"My Cause My Cleats is a wonderful NFL campaign that encourages individual players within the NFL to identify and support organizations and causes in the communities they play in," Amani Burton, ABF Board member and Events and Coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, said.
"It means a lot to see the nonprofit named after my brother featured and supported by John Jenkins and the Raiders on one of the biggest stages the NFL offers during Monday Night Football."
