MINNEAPOLIS, April 9, 2025 ~ The Health Care Compliance Association® (HCCA®) has announced an impressive lineup of speakers for its highly anticipated 29th Annual Compliance Institute (CI). One of the highlights of the conference will be the first General Session led by Kimberly Brandt, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Administrator at the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Taking place on Tuesday, April 29, Brandt's session titled "CMS Update" will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to hear directly from an official in the current administration about priorities and future direction for CMS.
Another notable speaker is Lynn Sessions, Partner at Baker & Hostetler LLP and leader of the firm's Healthcare Privacy and Compliance team. In her session on Wednesday morning, April 30, titled "What You Should Change Following the Change Healthcare Incident: Lessons Learned and Strategies to Consider," Sessions will draw from her extensive experience to discuss the largest breach of medical data in U.S. history and its implications for compliance professionals.

In addition to these sessions, attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from three legal and compliance experts in a session titled "The State of New York vs. The National Rifle Association: Lessons in Nonprofit Compliance and Governance." This session will address one of the biggest non-profit enforcement actions in recent years as well as explore the risks and pitfalls of ineffective oversight. The panelists for this session include Daniel Roach, Interim CEO of SCCE & HCCA with over 40 years of experience as a compliance officer, attorney, and general counsel; James Sheehan, Chief of the Charities Bureau at the Office of Attorney General for the State of New York; and Emily Stern, Chief of Enforcement Section at the Charities Bureau for NY AG.
