LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- InfoWerks Awarded $190,000 Grant from NCPDP Foundation to Streamline REMS Process
InfoWerks, a leading provider of healthcare data management solutions, has been awarded a $190,000 grant from the NCPDP Foundation to lead a groundbreaking project aimed at streamlining data exchange for the FDA's Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) plan. The project will leverage the REMS transaction within the NCPDP SCRIPT standard to enhance patient safety and reduce administrative burdens by minimizing manual processing delays.
Jeff Deitch, Chief Executive Officer at InfoWerks, expressed his enthusiasm: "Receiving this grant from the NCPDP Foundation is incredibly exciting. The project will focus on collaborating with a pharmacy, a pharmacy management system vendor and a REMS administrator. This initiative aims to simplify REMS program implementation for pharmacies, improve patient information and monitoring, and empower healthcare providers to guide patients through the adoption of innovative or complex new treatments.
Kelee Petzelt, an industry consultant managing the project's testing and development, added, "The grant from the NCPDP Foundation is a game-changer for our project. It's not just about simplifying the REMS process; it's about revolutionizing the role of pharmacists in patient care. With real-time adjudication and streamlined workflows, we can elevate pharmacists to key stakeholders in ensuring the safe use of high-risk medications."
The use of the NCPDP SCRIPT standard in this project will ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security, which is fundamental to patient safety when dealing with high-risk medications and emerging therapies. By integrating standards-based data exchange into healthcare workflows and clinical decision-making, InfoWerks anticipates significant improvements in patient care and emerging therapy management.
