- People & Stories/Gente y Cuentos Announces New Board Leadership & Corporate Partnership Initiative
LAS VEGAS, April 17, 2025 ~ Las Vegas Sands, a leading global hospitality company, has recently announced a generous contribution of $100,000 to 100 Black Men Las Vegas through their Sands Cares community engagement program. This donation will support the organization's efforts in providing mentorship, scholarships, and community service programs for youth in the Las Vegas area.
The donation, which is part of Sands' commitment to giving back to the community, will be spread out over the next five years and will enable 100 Black Men Las Vegas to expand their current programs and introduce new initiatives. These include a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program, a Pathways to Public Service program that focuses on developing future law enforcement and first responder professionals, and Realtist Academy which prepares participants for careers in real estate.
Gentry Richardson, executive director of 100 Black Men Las Vegas expressed his gratitude for Sands' ongoing support. He stated that the company has always understood their goal of empowering youth and community members to be successful and self-sufficient. With Sands' help over the past four years, they have been able to greatly expand their reach and make a positive impact on the lives of many young people. The 2025 contribution will further enhance their efforts in achieving this goal.

The funding from Sands Cares will also continue to support 100 Black Men Las Vegas' flagship Crossroads program which provides mentorship and life skills training for middle and high school students. This program covers over 30 critical social and emotional skills that equip participants with the tools they need to succeed in education, careers, and their communities. In 2024 alone, this program served more than 1,500 students in the Las Vegas area and helped them achieve a cumulative grade point average increase of 20% compared to the previous year.
In addition to supporting youth leadership development programs like Crossroads, Sands' donation also goes towards providing scholarships for local college students. Last year, the organization was able to distribute over $80,000 in scholarship funds and aims to increase that amount to $100,000 in 2025.
The Sands Cares contribution also helps fund direct community service programs such as a free monthly Virtual Youth Cooking Class and Thanksgiving with the 100 and Friends, an annual Thanksgiving dinner distribution event. These initiatives provide much-needed support and resources for families in the community.
