LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- Help R Heroes, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, has joined forces with US Vets and the North Las Vegas Veterans and Community Center to offer artisan crafting classes this month.
All materials, equipment and instruction are provided to veterans free of charge.
Gary Scaife, a Vietnam War Navy veteran, knows that veterans face PTSD, alienation, and feeling alone. Additionally, some veterans may face financial struggles. He founded Help R Heroes in 2021 to offer crafting classes to veterans.
"Veterans are able to use their hands and their minds again, as part of a group. It gives them a purpose. And the business gives them a direction," says Mr. Scaife.
