In today's interconnected world, standards play an indispensable role in ensuring seamless interoperability across various devices and platforms. However, in the realm of virtual production, the lack of comprehensive standards has led to fragmented ecosystems and costly development efforts. Bengtsson and fellow industry experts will explore the necessity of standards, identify the gaps in current protocols, and advocate for collaborative efforts to drive long-term success in the field.
One focal point of the discussion is the SMPTE RiS OSVP Interoperability Workstream committee for Camera Lens Metadata & Camera Tracking. Other projects underway include standardizing Lens Profile communication, conducting a Circle of Confusion study for digital sensors, and developing a new Camera Tracking protocol in collaboration with other industry standards organizations.
"We are honored to have Marcus Bengtsson represent Original Syndicate at the NAB Show," said Ben C. Roth, Principal, Original Syndicate. "His insights will undoubtedly bring home the importance of standards in advancing technologies. We look forward to driving meaningful progress in this ever-evolving landscape."
