RENO, Nev. - nvtip -- "Peripheral artery disease is often called the silent killer because you may have it and not even know," says Dr. Brian Evans, M.D., endovascular specialist, and Medical Director of Comprehensive Integrated Care (CiC) in Reno.

Diagnosing and treating PAD early can mean the difference between saving or losing a limb, and in some cases saving a life. "Feet can be a warning sign, if it's happening in the feet it's happening in other organs of the body. Chest pain and new facial droop are obvious signs of atherosclerosis. If it's happening in one organ, it's likely happening in more," explains Evans.

The good news about PAD is that there's hope. Diagnosing and treating PAD has come a long way over the past 20 years. Evaluation, testing, and minimally invasive procedures can all be done right in an office setting. Patients are able to get back on their feet and into their lives with almost no downtime, not stitches and no overnight hospital stay.  Medicare as well as most insurance plans will cover treatment.
