At the center of this controversy is the International Accreditation Forum (IAF is an association of national and international accreditation bodies equivalent in accreditation to ANSI-ANAB), an American-based entity incorporated in Delaware and founded by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the American National Accreditation Board (ANAB). Between 2015 and 2021, the IAF was led by Xiao Jianhua, a Chinese national with deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party and the China National Accreditation Services (CNAS) in Beijing.ANSI took over 100% control of ANAB in 2018.
