Cato rallies Las Vegas and the Caribbean diaspora to bring light and hope to families in Jamaica

LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- Humanitarian and entrepreneur Jo Cato has announced that her Las Vegas office will serve as a donation center to support emergency relief efforts in Jamaica following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.

Born in Mount James, West Rural St. Andrew Parish, Cato shared that her childhood home and community have been severely affected. The district remains cut off from main access roads after massive landslides, downed power poles, and flooding left families stranded and without electricity.

"This one hit home for me—literally," said Cato. "My family and neighbors are in complete darkness, physically and emotionally. I'm calling on Jamaicans in the diaspora, friends of Jamaica, and anyone who has ever visited—right now, you are family. Batteries and flashlights may seem small, but they mean safety, connection, and hope."

Cato, an award-winning entrepreneur and philanthropist, is calling on Las Vegas residents and her global network to donate batteries, flashlights, pillowcases, blood pressure machines, and disposable gloves to assist families in Jamaica's most devastated rural areas. "We may be miles away, but compassion knows no distance," added Cato. "Let's help families rebuild—one light at a time."
