New on-site service enables agencies to securely and completely destroy firearms and weapons at their own facilities, reducing transportation, chain-of-custody risk, and administrative burden.
LAS VEGAS - nvtip -- LSC Destruction, a nationwide provider of secure on-site contraband destruction services for law enforcement and government agencies, today announced the deployment of a new mobile shredding truck dedicated to the safe and secure on-site destruction of firearms, weapons, and other metal contraband.
The new service brings industrial-scale firearm destruction directly to police departments, sheriff's offices, evidence facilities, government agencies, and other authorized locations. Rather than transporting firearms to an off-site destruction facility, agencies can maintain custody of weapons at their own secured location through the destruction process.
"Firearm destruction should not create another chain-of-custody problem for an agency to manage," said Alex Zorensky, CEO of LSC Destruction. "With our new mobile shredding truck, the destruction equipment comes to the department. Agencies can witness the process on-site, document the destruction, and know that the weapons have been physically reduced to scrap before the job is complete."

Designed for Secure, Witnessable Firearm Destruction
LSC's mobile weapons-shredding service is designed for firearms and other weapons designated for lawful destruction, including seized firearms, forfeited weapons, firearms collected through buyback programs, and decommissioned service weapons.
The mobile shredding process physically destroys firearms and their components at the agency's location. Federal ATF regulations recognize shredding, crushing, and complete melting as acceptable methods for destroying firearm frames or receivers when the process permanently alters them so they cannot readily be restored or converted to function.
Supporting Evolving Firearm-Destruction Requirements
Secure destruction has taken on additional importance as law-enforcement agencies evaluate how firearms and firearm components are handled after being designated for disposal.
"Departments need a destruction process that is secure, efficient, documentable, and auditable," said Alex Zorensky, CEO of LSC Destruction. "Bringing the shredder to the evidence gives agencies much greater control over that process. Functioning weapons never leave the agency's custody with LSC."

ATF guidance recommends destruction of the entire firearm, including component parts, when a state or local law enforcement agency's policy calls for firearms to be destroyed. ATF also identifies shredding as an acceptable firearm-destruction method under federal regulations.
LSC's mobile shredding capability also supports agencies operating under state-specific requirements, including California agencies subject to firearm-destruction provisions under SB 1019.
